BOOK SALE BUCKS FOR FEED THE CHILDREN

The open-air books sale outside the Feed The Children (UK)’s warehouse and office last Friday (30th July) brought much-needed funds to the Twyford-based charity.

Lots of bargain-hunters and bookworms flocked to the stand to sift through a large variety of hardback (three for £2) and soft back books (three for £1), as well as CDs, DVDs and videos. Many visitors also brought books to add to Feed The Children’s collection. A group of three volunteers led by Sue Thomas manned the stand.

“We were very much a destination shop rather than footfall venue,” says volunteer Sue Thomas, “so we were really encouraged with the £100 that our book sale raised for the charity. We will definitely be holding another sale on Friday 10th September when we hope even more people will come along to support us.”

From 10am to 2pm on Friday 10th September Feed The Children volunteers will be selling donated books at the warehouse at 2 Tavistock Industrial Estate, Ruscombe Lane, Twyford, RG10 9NJ.
