Run, walk or toddle to help Feed The Children!
Serious or fun runners and enthusiastic leisure walkers are being asked to help raise money for Feed The Children UK, in Twyford, by taking part in a walk starting at Grey’s Green Golf Course, Peppard on Sunday 28th September. There is something for everyone, for keen athletes and fun runners alike there is a 10k run, which starts at 10.30am and for leisure walkers and families (including the dog!) there is a slightly shorter 7k route starting at 10.35am. Registration is at 9.30am.
The run starts from Greys Green Golf Course, adjacent to the Dog Inn at Peppard Common, on the B481 Reading to Nettlebed Road, RG9 4QG.
“For serious runners the cross-country run complements their training regime,” explains Sally Brown, project manager.
There are a few stiles, and a short stretch along a road on the route. People who run for fun will find a friendly atmosphere, and it's great for encouraging children to keep fit - the whole family can run, walk or jog together.”
Everyone who participates receives a certificate, and there are medals for the first man, first woman, first boy and first girl (under 16). Entry fee for runners is £8 in advance or £10 on the day, walkers, £5 in advance and £6 on the day. All children under 16 are £1.
All proceeds are for Feed The Children UK, the children’s charity, which works worldwide, as well as within the UK, to develop sustainable communities and provide food and other necessities for those in great need. The charity concentrates aid on children suffering the effects of poverty, especially those who have been orphaned or abandoned. The charity believes that wherever there is famine, conflict, disease or poverty, it is always the children who are most vulnerable.
Feed The Children is also seeking volunteers for the event, about 40 people are needed to help register participants, man the water stations and marshal the course. Anyone interested in running, walking or volunteering for this worthy cause can download a registration form from our website, www.feedthechildren.org.uk or please call us on 0118 932 0095 if you want to find out more about volunteering on the day.
