Could You be a Marshal?
“Marshals play an extremely important role in this annual fundraiser,” says organiser, Sally Brown. “We particularly need two people to look after a water station which, as you can imagine, is a lovely social job to do for the event.” So if you can spare a couple of hours on the day from 10.00 am, please get in touch with Sally Brown on 0118 9320095
“The event takes place over a superb course, challenging but scenic and everyone who takes part thoroughly enjoys it. Some take part every year,” continues Sally.
The Peppard 10K race and 7K walk is organised by the Ruscombe-based charity Feed The Children and is one of their main fundraising events. Entry forms are available through the charity’s website (www.feedthechildren.org.uk).
Starting and finishing at Greys Green Golf Course, adjacent to the Ruchetta Restaurant, Peppard Common on the B481 Reading to Nettlebed Road, RG9 5JU, the walk/run is suitable for all the family. For keen athletes and fun runners alike there is a 10K run, which starts at 10.30am and for leisure walkers and families (including the dog!) there is a shorter 7k route starting at 10.35am. Registration for both options commences at 9.30am.
There will be the Samuel Hood Memorial Shield and trophy for the Best Fundraiser to be won by the person or group of people who raise the most sponsorship, the BookRabbit Winners’ shield and trophies for the first man, first woman, first boy (under 16), first girl (under 16) and veteran (over 65) and everyone who participates receives a certificate. Entry fee for runners is £10 in advance or £12 on the day, walkers, £5 in advance and £6 on the day. All children under 16 are £1.
“We hope to attract a wide range of participants for this year’s Peppard 10K run and 7K walk,” says Feed The Children’s chief executive, Brian Main, “The beautiful course starts and finishes on private land and is mostly off-road, across bridleways and footpaths and makes for a special and unforgettable event.” |
