CHICAGO-STYLE BRIDGE WINS OVER £1,000 FOR FEED THE CHILDREN (UK)

92 bridge enthusiasts flocked to Charvil Village Hall on Thursday 21 October and raised over £1,000 in a “Chicago-style” bridge tournament for Feed The Children (UK).
Players were charged a modest £7 per head for participating, for which they also received a splendid spread of tea, sandwiches and cakes. There were prizes for the biggest slam made (7 no trumps) and for the leading three players. There was also a raffle with a multitude of different prizes.
It was the first time that the event was held for the benefit Feed The Children. Sue Thomas, head of volunteers at the charity, commented: “This was an important event for us and we are very grateful for all the support we received from local bridge-players.”
Feed The Children works worldwide, as well as within the UK, to develop sustainable communities and provide food and other necessities for those in great need. The charity concentrates aid on children suffering the effects of poverty, especially those who have been orphaned or abandoned. The charity believes that wherever there is famine, conflict, disease or poverty, it is always the children who are most vulnerable.
